Here’s What I Found in the Ancient Texts
What’s going on, my buddies? Now listen, I want to go deep into something here, and I want everyone reading this to focus on three things: the spiritual side of Sasquatch, the possibility of a dual entity, and what that entity might actually be. I’m going to take you through the ancient scriptures, explain what the Nephilim were believed to be, how they originated, what happened to them, and why their story has become so important to my research.
For almost forty years, I’ve investigated Sasquatch, ancient mysteries, and unexplained encounters. During that time, I’ve heard countless people claim that Sasquatch is connected to the Nephilim. For me, that connection never made much sense. I had read Genesis 6:4, and I thought it was simply talking about giants. I believe ancient giants existed, and I’ve spent years studying historical accounts and traditions describing them. But that alone never convinced me they were Sasquatch.
Then I started looking beyond Genesis. I went into the Book of Enoch, Jubilees, the Dead Sea Scrolls, early Christian writings, and even a medieval work called The Secret Supper. What caught my attention wasn’t how big the giants supposedly were. It was what ancient writers claimed happened to their spirits after their physical bodies died.
And before we’re finished, I want to introduce another possibility that I believe deserves investigation: possession. Not because I’ve proved it happens, but because it’s actually discussed in ancient religious writings and could provide an interesting comparison with some of the strangest Sasquatch reports.
Ancient Folklore and Mythology: Are We Remembering Something?

Here’s something I’ve been exploring for years. Long before anyone called these creatures Bigfoot or Sasquatch, cultures around the world were telling stories about giants, mysterious wild people, and powerful spiritual beings. We find the Jötnar in Norse mythology, the Titans in Greek traditions, the Anakim in ancient Hebrew writings, and different accounts of giant beings throughout Indigenous folklore. These traditions aren’t all describing the same creature, but I find their similarities fascinating.
I actually explored these connections in my 2025 book, The Hidden Bloodlines of Bigfoot: Ancient Lore, DNA Clues, and the Spirit of the Wild. In Chapter 4, The Nephilim Connection, I examined ancient giant traditions and questioned whether some stories might preserve memories of something much older. But here’s what’s changed in my research. I’m no longer looking only at the giants themselves. I’m looking at what certain ancient writers believed happened to their spirits after death.
And that’s where folklore, mythology, and scripture begin raising some interesting questions for my Dual-Entity Hypothesis. Could some ancient stories reflect beliefs about a continuing spiritual intelligence rather than simply an enormous physical being? We can’t assume these traditions are connected, but I believe the comparison deserves investigation. Now let’s start with the biblical texts and see what they actually say.
What Exactly Were the Nephilim?

Let’s begin with the Bible itself. Genesis 6:1–4 describes the sons of God taking wives from among the daughters of men. The passage mentions the Nephilim, who are associated with mighty men of ancient renown. In Numbers 13:33, Israelite scouts describe the descendants of Anak and associate them with the Nephilim, comparing themselves to grasshoppers beside these enormous people.
There’s an important distinction here. Genesis does not provide a complete explanation of the Nephilim’s ancestry or physical appearance. Some interpretations identify the sons of God as heavenly beings, while others understand them as powerful rulers or particular human lineages. The familiar account of supernatural beings producing giant offspring comes most clearly from the ancient Enochic interpretation.
And that’s why I believe we need to examine the additional books instead of stopping at Genesis 6:4. If we’re going to discuss a possible connection to Sasquatch, we need to understand the whole ancient story first.
The King James Bible: Where the Story Begins
Before we explore the ancient writings outside the traditional Western Bible, let’s start with the King James Version. In Genesis 6:4, the Bible tells us there were giants upon the Earth, while Numbers 13:33 describes the descendants of Anak as giants of enormous stature.
But something else caught my attention. In Mark 5:1–13, the Bible describes unclean spirits leaving a man and entering a herd of pigs. That’s an important detail for my research because it introduces the idea of spiritual beings influencing living animals.
Now, the King James Bible doesn’t tell us that Sasquatch is Nephilim, or that the spirits of dead giants possess animals. That’s where the other ancient writings become important. But it gives us the foundation to investigate giants, spirits, and possession without inventing what the scriptures actually say.
The Ethiopian Bible: Why This Matters to My Research
Now here’s something I want everyone to think about. Not every Bible contains the same books. The Ethiopian Orthodox biblical tradition includes the Book of Enoch and the Book of Jubilees, two ancient writings that most Western Bibles leave out. And what’s interesting to me is what these scriptures actually say about giants and their spirits.
In 1 Enoch 6–15, we learn about the Watchers, their offspring, and the belief that the spirits of the giants remained on Earth after their physical bodies died. Jubilees Chapter 10 continues that tradition by describing harmful spirits troubling humanity after the Flood. These are ancient religious accounts of beings with physical origins whose spiritual existence supposedly continued after death.
That’s exactly why I’m bringing the Ethiopian Bible into this investigation. For my Dual-Entity Hypothesis, this is an important historical connection between the physical and spiritual worlds. I’m not claiming it proves Sasquatch is Nephilim. I’m showing you why these ancient writings deserve a closer look.
The modern Ethiopian Bible edition pictured here advertises Enoch and Jubilees among its contents, although I haven’t independently verified its complete text. Let’s look at what the original writings actually tell us.
The Book of Enoch: How the Giants Were Created
In 1 Enoch, Chapters 6–7, the account becomes much more detailed. According to the narrative, 200 heavenly Watchers descended to Earth during the days of Jared. They gathered at Mount Hermon and took human women as wives. Their leader is commonly identified as Shemihazah, although the name varies between translations.
Their offspring became giants. The narrative describes these beings consuming enormous quantities of resources, growing violent, and eventually turning against humanity and other living creatures. In Chapter 8, certain Watchers also introduce forbidden knowledge, including weapons, enchantments, and celestial teachings.
So why were the Nephilim created? According to this tradition, their existence resulted from the Watchers violating their heavenly responsibilities. They were not described as being created to guard forests or protect humanity. They were the offspring of a forbidden union between heavenly beings and human women.
In the Enochic account, the giants possessed physical bodies but originated from both spiritual and human ancestry. That is the human-supernatural hybrid concept we hear discussed today.
Why Did the Flood Happen?

This is another important question because the Nephilim are frequently connected with Noah’s Flood. Genesis 6:5–13 explains that God saw widespread human wickedness, corruption, and violence upon the Earth. According to the biblical account, humanity had become so corrupt that divine judgment followed, although Noah found favour with God.
The Book of Enoch expands this picture by describing the destructive activities of the Watchers and their giant offspring. In 1 Enoch 10, the giants face destruction, while the rebellious Watchers receive their own punishment. The two groups are different. The Watchers are heavenly fathers, while the giants are their earthly offspring.
So was the Flood simply designed to wipe out the Nephilim? Genesis does not say that was its sole purpose. It describes judgment upon a deeply corrupted world. The Enochic tradition places the giants and their violence within that wider catastrophe.
But what happens next is where my research becomes especially interesting.
The Spirits of the Dead Giants
This is the discovery that really changed my thinking. In 1 Enoch 15:8–12, the text explains that the giants originated from spirit and flesh, and that evil spirits would proceed from their bodies after death. Those spirits were described as remaining upon the Earth, afflicting and troubling humanity.
Think about what that means within the ancient narrative. These beings were originally physical, born through a union of spiritual and human ancestry. Their physical bodies were destroyed, yet the author describes their spirits as continuing to exist. This is not something modern Sasquatch researchers added to the story. It is actually present in the ancient writing.
For someone exploring a Dual-Entity Hypothesis, that’s an important passage. We have an ancient description of beings whose existence involved both spirit and flesh, followed by spiritual survival after physical death. The text does not say those spirits repeatedly materialized as Sasquatch, but it clearly describes the continuing existence of their spiritual identities.
And that’s where I began wondering whether I had overlooked something about the Nephilim connection all these years.
Jubilees: The Spirits That Remained
The Book of Jubilees, Chapter 10, continues the story after the Flood. Noah’s descendants are described as being troubled by harmful spirits associated with the offspring of the Watchers. Noah prays for protection, and the spirits are ordered to be restrained.
Then comes another unusual detail. According to Jubilees 10:7–11, Mastema requests that some spirits remain under his authority. The narrative says that nine-tenths are bound while one-tenth remain active.
Within this tradition, the destruction of the physical giants did not end the spiritual activity associated with them. The account presents these surviving spirits as continuing to influence the living world. These are religious claims, not proof that such beings exist, but they show that the belief continued beyond the Book of Enoch.
The Dead Sea Scrolls and Other Biblical Writings
The Dead Sea Scrolls preserve fragments of the Book of Giants, including manuscripts identified as 4Q203 and 4Q530–533. These writings contain figures such as Ohyah, Hahyah, and Mahaway, along with dreams, warnings, and discussions of approaching judgment.
What interests me is that the giants are portrayed as intelligent beings capable of communication, fear, and understanding. The manuscripts are incomplete, but they confirm that these traditions existed in ancient Jewish literature long before modern Sasquatch research.
Other biblical books also mention giants. Baruch 3:26–28 describes ancient warriors of enormous stature who perished through lack of wisdom. Wisdom of Solomon 14:6 refers to arrogant giants perishing around the time of the Flood, while Sirach 16:7 contains another ancient judgment tradition. These books are found in Catholic and other Christian biblical traditions, though not in every Protestant Bible.
To me, every one of these writings is worth examining. I don’t dismiss a historical religious source simply because it belongs to a different tradition. But I also recognize that recording an ancient belief is not the same as independently proving that the event occurred.
Athenagoras: The Souls of Giants Became Wandering Demons
Around the second century AD, the Christian philosopher Athenagoras wrote A Plea for the Christians. In Chapters 24–25, he discusses fallen angels, giants, and wandering demons. In Chapter 25, he explicitly associates those wandering demons with the souls of giants.
This caught my attention because it shows that the belief in surviving giant spirits continued into early Christian theology. Athenagoras distinguishes between the fallen angels and the souls of their giant offspring. These were not automatically considered the same beings.
Again, this does not scientifically prove that giant spirits exist. But it is an identifiable historical connection, preserved in an actual religious document, and one I believe deserves attention when investigating the origins of spirit-related beliefs.
Origen: Could Spirits Possess Animals?
Now here’s where I really want everyone to pay attention. In Against Celsus, Book IV, Chapter 92, the early Christian theologian Origen describes wicked demons he compares with Giants or Titans. He claims that these demons enter certain animal bodies and influence their movements and behaviour.
He mentions animals including wolves, foxes, serpents, and birds. The Bible also contains the account in Mark 5:1–13, where unclean spirits leave a man and enter a herd of pigs.
Origen does not establish that those demons are specifically the dead Nephilim of Enoch, and neither passage describes an animal physically transforming into another species. But these writings do contain the ancient concept of a spiritual intelligence inhabiting or influencing an existing animal.
Now consider the number of Sasquatch discussions involving bears. How often have witnesses been told they simply saw a bear standing upright? What if, purely as a hypothesis, a spiritual intelligence could influence a living animal or alter how someone perceives it? Could a witness interpret the encounter as something entirely different?
I’m not saying Sasquatch is a possessed bear. I’m asking whether the distinction between the animal’s physical body and the identity a witness believes they’re encountering deserves investigation.
The Testament of Solomon and The Secret Supper
Another important text is the Testament of Solomon, particularly Sections 70–71. A spirit claims to have originated from a giant who died during the ancient destruction of the giants. It also describes assuming the appearance of dead people and causing possession.
This adds another historical connection involving giant ancestry, continuing spirits, and altered appearances. The text is later religious literature, not a firsthand account written by King Solomon, and its claims remain unverified.
I also examined The Secret Supper, known as the Questions of John. This medieval writing, associated with Bogomil and Cathar traditions, describes a spiritual creation story in which Satan forms physical bodies and confines angels within them. It also includes serpent imagery.
Although this work is much later than Enoch, it explores something directly relevant to my research: the idea of a spiritual identity becoming connected with a physical vessel. Together, these writings reveal how different religious authors understood the relationship between spiritual beings and physical form.
Portals, Heavenly Gateways, and the Doorways Between Worlds
Now here’s something else I find fascinating. We hear people discussing portals all the time in the Sasquatch community. Witnesses describe creatures appearing and disappearing, strange lights, and places where the atmosphere suddenly shifts. But did you know that ancient religious writings also describe these exact types of gateways between realms?
In Genesis 28:12–17, Jacob dreams of a ladder connecting Earth and heaven, with angels travelling between them. Revelation 4:1 describes an open door in heaven, while Ezekiel 1:1 describes the heavens opening. In 2 Kings 2:11, Elijah is taken into heaven by a whirlwind. These passages describe different experiences, but they all involve extraordinary connections between earthly existence and the heavenly realm.
Then there’s Acts 8:39–40, where Philip is carried away by the Spirit of the Lord and later found at Azotus. Even 1 Enoch 72:2–3 describes heavenly portals associated with the movement of the sun. None of these passages proves that modern physical portals exist, but they show how deeply the idea of movement between realms appears in ancient religious literature.
Beyond the Veil: A Modern Interpretation
While looking deeper into this subject, I came across Portals and Realms: The Gateway Into God’s Supernatural by Dr. Bible Davids. What interested me was how the author connects spiritual realms with the biblical veil separating humanity from God’s presence.
In Chapter 1, “Beyond the Veil,” beginning on page 19, Davids discusses the tearing of the temple veil at Christ’s death, referencing Matthew 27:51 and Hebrews 10:19–20. His interpretation focuses on spiritual access to God rather than a physical doorway opening in the wilderness.
The book also contains chapters explicitly titled “Frequency and Rhythm, “Portals,” and “Dimensions.” While the author approaches these terms from a strictly theological perspective rather than a cryptozoological one, the thematic overlap is striking. These are the exact concepts we grapple with when investigating the Oz Effect, unusual environmental shifts, and unexplained disappearances in the wilderness. I’m not claiming the author shares my specific hypothesis, but rather highlighting how different fields keep converging on the very same ideas.
And here’s the question I want everyone to think about.
If ancient scriptures describe spiritual beings moving between realms, and modern witnesses report experiences they interpret as something entering or leaving our reality, are we asking the right questions about what they’re encountering?
I don’t believe we have enough evidence to connect those events yet, but it’s a comparison I’m not ready to overlook.
Now Let’s Look at Sasquatch Differently

Here’s where I want to bring everything back to the mystery I’ve researched for nearly forty years. Sasquatch witnesses describe enormous footprints, powerful vocalizations, apparent physical encounters, and intelligent behaviour. But other reports involve trackways that seem to end unexpectedly, unexplained lights, mindspeak, alleged portals, unusual electronic disturbances, and the Oz Effect, when the forest suddenly falls silent.
Some of those reports may have ordinary explanations. A trackway can end because the surface changes. Wildlife can fall silent when a predator is nearby. Hoaxes and misidentifications also complicate the evidence. But genuine witnesses continue reporting experiences they struggle to understand, and I don’t believe every account should be dismissed simply because some reports are unreliable.
What I’m asking is whether we’ve become so focused on what Sasquatch looks like that we’ve overlooked the wider experience.
Could some reported encounters involve an intelligence that witnesses experience through different physical forms or unusual changes in perception?
The Possibility of One Intelligence With Multiple Faces

I have also been comparing Sasquatch with Dogman, Mothman, shadow figures, shapeshifters, and other extraordinary beings described around the world. These accounts involve very different appearances, but some share reports of strange lights, environmental changes, unusual behaviour, and apparently impossible departures.
My developing hypothesis asks whether a subset of these encounters might share an underlying cause. Perhaps the witness sees an ordinary physical animal. Perhaps perception plays a role. Or perhaps, as an extraordinary possibility, an unknown intelligence interacts with the physical world through a host or another mechanism.
This is where the ancient giant-spirit tradition becomes interesting to me. Not because it proves all cryptids are Nephilim, but because those writings discuss continuing spiritual identities, influence over living bodies, and assumed appearances.
What if the creature’s outward appearance isn’t always the most important part of the encounter?
Energy, the Oz Effect, and the Physical World
Now here’s somebody whose research I’ve enjoyed for years: Ron Morehead. Many of you probably know him from the famous Sierra Sounds recordings, but what interests me even more is how his understanding of Sasquatch has developed over time. He hasn’t limited himself to looking for another undiscovered animal. He’s questioned whether there’s something much deeper going on, and that’s something I’ve been asking throughout my own research.
In his 2017 book, The Quantum Bigfoot: Bringing Science and Spirituality Together, Morehead examines the physical evidence alongside biblical writings, ancient texts, consciousness, vibrations, invisibility, and quantum physics. His preface explains that he believes Sasquatch may possess abilities beyond those of an ordinary animal. Now, that doesn’t mean quantum physics has proven any supernatural abilities, but I appreciate a researcher willing to investigate reports that don’t fit the usual explanations.
His 2024 book, Bigfoot Unveiled: Scientific Answers to Bigfoot Mysteries, takes those questions further. In Chapter 2, Body and Soul, Morehead explores his belief that living beings possess both physical and spiritual components. He also discusses dimensions, hybridization, and the possibility of intelligence existing beyond what we normally perceive. This caught my attention because it comes remarkably close to the questions behind my Dual-Entity Hypothesis.
Another part I found interesting was Chapter 3, Where’s the Proof? Morehead discusses the Sierra Sounds recordings, the analysis conducted by R. Lynn Kirlin, Scott Nelson’s interpretation of the vocalizations, and Dr. Melba Ketchum’s controversial DNA research. I’ve always found Ketchum’s work interesting, and I believe the questions surrounding those samples deserved careful scientific investigation. Unfortunately, her conclusions never received the independent confirmation needed to establish a new species. That doesn’t mean we should stop asking questions, but it does mean we need to separate interesting research from proven results.
And here’s where I want to bring this back to the spirits of the ancient giants. Morehead explores the possibility that Sasquatch possesses both physical and spiritual characteristics. The Book of Enoch describes giants whose physical bodies died while their spirits supposedly continued to exist upon the Earth. These are two very different sources, separated by thousands of years, but they raise a fascinating comparison for my research.
What if some of the strange encounters we’re investigating involve a spiritual intelligence rather than simply an undiscovered animal? I’m not claiming Morehead has proven that, or that Sasquatch is Nephilim. What I’m saying is that the ancient writings and modern witness reports give me reasons to keep investigating the relationship between physical form, spiritual identity, and the possibility that something survives beyond the body. That’s the connection I want to explore further.
What This Means for My Dual-Entity Hypothesis

This investigation has brought me back to the part of the Nephilim tradition that I find most important. According to 1 Enoch, the giants originated from spiritual and physical ancestry. Their bodies were destroyed, but their spirits were said to remain upon Earth.
There is the dual nature I want readers to understand. A physical existence connected with a spiritual origin, followed by continuing spiritual existence after death.
My hypothesis takes that ancient idea one step further. Could some of the extraordinary characteristics reported in modern Sasquatch encounters involve an intelligence interacting with the physical world without being permanently confined to one biological body?
The ancient scriptures do not establish that additional step. But they give me a historical starting point for investigating it, particularly when I compare Enoch with later writings about possession and assumed appearances.
Final Thoughts: Do You Believe the Nephilim Are Sasquatch?

For the longest time, I completely dismissed the Nephilim connection. I believed Sasquatch was something much deeper than an undiscovered animal, but I couldn’t understand how ancient giants fit into that picture. I’ve always held tremendous respect for Indigenous cultures and their teachings about the land, guardianship, and the spiritual world. My visit to Harrison Hot Springs only strengthened that respect. But after exploring these ancient biblical writings, I started questioning whether different traditions might offer us separate perspectives on a much larger mystery.
Now here’s what really gets me thinking. We have the Sts’ailes Nation and its teachings about Sasq’ets as a spiritually significant caretaker of the land. We have other Indigenous traditions with their own distinct understandings of mysterious beings. Then we have the ancient Enochic writings describing giants with both spiritual and human ancestry, followed by accounts of their spirits remaining upon Earth. These traditions come from different cultures, have different meanings, and describe very different spiritual roles. I’m not claiming they’re all describing the same being. But I do wonder whether some of the similarities deserve closer investigation.
And here’s where my own Dual-Entity Hypothesis takes another direction. What if some unexplained encounters involve an intelligence that humanity experiences and interprets differently depending on culture, beliefs, expectations, and circumstances? Could our relationship with the wilderness influence how we perceive or respond to an encounter? I’ve always approached the wilderness with respect, often saying a prayer before entering. That matters to me personally. But I also recognize that peaceful people can have terrifying experiences, and frightening encounters don’t mean somebody brought negativity upon themselves. We need to examine every account fairly, including those that challenge my ideas.
So, do I believe Sasquatch is Nephilim? I haven’t found the evidence to make that claim. Do I believe an unknown spiritual intelligence interacting with the physical world is a possibility worth investigating? Absolutely. The ancient writings establish that people held beliefs about spiritual beings and physical existence, but they don’t prove that modern Sasquatch encounters have the same cause. Indigenous traditions deserve to stand on their own, not be reinterpreted through another culture’s religion. My belief is that there may be a deeper connection worth exploring, and I’m willing to follow the evidence wherever it leads.
Maybe the answer isn’t found in choosing between flesh and blood, spiritual, or interdimensional explanations. Maybe we need to understand what each perspective contributes before deciding whether we’re looking at separate mysteries or different interpretations of something we haven’t identified.
What if we’ve spent generations arguing over what to call these beings, when the bigger question is whether humanity has been encountering something we still don’t fully understand?
That’s where my research is taking me next. On October 30, we’re going deeper into spiritual encounters, the relationship between humanity and the wilderness, and the possibility that our beliefs and intentions influence how we experience the unknown.
