What convinced you most Meldrum’s cast evidence, witness patterns, or something else?
There was nobody in the Bigfoot field like Dr Jeff Meldrum. Thank you for doing this time to honour him since his recent passing. He will be sorely missed in the realm of all things Sasquatch. As a PhD anthropologist who was responsible for directing how Bigfoot is seen in the public sphere through peer reviewed journal articles, reports, and similar works on the Relict Hominoid, no one has ever looked back. He was able to move people into a liminal space in their minds, often going from skeptic and disbeliever, to understanding that Bigfoot could indeed be real. and that there are evidences enough for a professional like himself (and colleagues) to consider this research as an authentic field worth investigating.
I personally, as a cultural anthropologist, appreciate the validity and confirmation of his work that so many of us Bigfoot investigators need (in a time where such things are often written off as hoaxes) so that we can move forward without fear of ridicule. Dr. Meldrum (Jeff) was one of the people I interviewed in my book (Bigfoot Beyond Belief, and another smaller one I will be re-publishing soon, taken from that bigger book) and I am so glad he was able to participate in my questionnaire. Scientists always tend to be skeptical about anything related to the paranormal or anything that doesn’t have irrefutable evidence to support it. Will more mainstream scientists follow? I think a few will, and that’s where the shift starts. Curiosity plus solid methodology is contagious, especially as better field data, prints, and audio stacks up. But yes, skepticism will still keep many on the sidelines not just the science, but the career risk.
What gives me hope is his example: stay rigorous, share findings, invite critique, and keep walking the trail anyway. That model lets serious researchers step in without feeling like they’re stepping off a cliff. If even a small percentage do that, the conversation changes over time.

While reading this article, I began to think about the work of Charlie Kirk – the conservative activist who co-founded Turning Point USA. I’m in no way stating that I agreed with any talks that he made; but what I am stating is that when a person decides to step out away from the status quo – hurdles and criticism will arise. It takes a strong, wise and bold individual to decide to move forward in their own truth regardless of what anyone else says and regardless of whether or not, that individual has supporters or in the internet world – fans or followers.
